Smoothly Run FIFA World Cup Draw, 'Football Fridays' Gaining Popularity, And Thanksgiving Functions at the Mid-Ennerdale Primary School

* The draw for next year's FIFA's World Cup that going well technically. This draw to group the 32 nations that have qualified for the soccer showpiece next year took place at Cape Town's ICC this past Friday. In terms of glitches to the proceedings, there were none.
We are happy that the first real test - in terms of South Africa's organizational ability and technical 'know how' - went smoothly.
As for Bafana Bafana's group, we can only wish them well. It is a tough group.
With two former world champions in Uruguay and France, and one of the best teams in the Americas - Mexico - in our group, it the proverbial 'group of death' for us. As hosts we are expected to make it to the 2nd round at least, like all host countries before us.
And we will make it, come rain or shine.

* The realization that the 'Football Fridays' tradition is slowly, but surely, taking root in corporate SA. I heard a DJ on the local radio station -94.7- saying how much he appreciates the fact that his employer - Primemedia - has bought all its employees Bafana Bafana t-shirts to wear on Fridays in support of 'Football Fridays'.
'Football Friday' is the tradition of wearing Bafana Bafana jerseys on Fridays. This is done, firstly, to support our national soccer team - Bafana Bafana - as they prepare to take part in next year's FIFA World Cup. Secondly, it is done to support the efforts of FIFA's Local Organizing Committee, and those of the country as a whole, in putting together the best World Cup ever.
And after Friday's tough draw for our national team, 'Football Fridays' have now become even more imperative to Mzansi people.

* A year- end 'thanksgiving' function that I attended at the the Mid Ennerdale Primary. This was a gathering of school principals of the Department of Education Johannesburg South region.
This function - which was also an awards ceremony - turned out to be one of the best functions that I have ever attended .It was a well organised 'do'. And its theme of 'thanksgiving' at this time of the year was spot on.
I was also humbled by the reception I received there as one of the speakers. This started with bo-Ausi Lola at department's Lenasia offices.
'Big up' also to the following:

a) Mrs Rosa Malherbe - the JHb South Director - whose idea this function was.

b) Mrs Misaveni Maluleke - for MCing this event to perfection.

d) The Mid Ennerdale pupil's musical entertainment. Their rendition of the Christmas carol "Oh Holy Night" was out of this world.

e) Ms Mili Viljoen for a 'vote of thanks' to end all 'votes of thanks'.

'Big up' to bo-Mr Abrahams and Bra Maurice as well. And a special thanks must go to the Mid Ennerdale Primary School principal - Mr Biccar - for hosting us.

Much love to you JHB South.

THANK YOU UNIVERSE. THANK YOU FOR OUR 'FEEL GOOD MOMENTS'.

Our FEEL GOOD poem of the week:

We Will Show Them
________________

A tough group, they said.
A group of death, they added.
But we are not afraid.
Show them, we will.
Go Bafana Bafana.
Show them.
Show them who is king.
Show them who is king of the African jungle.
We will show them.
Show them we are the kings of this jungle.
Can you hear the roar Mexico?
You will after June 11.
Can you hear the roar Brazil?
You will after July 11.
We will have showed you.
